Pay math, done properly
Wage by Hour is a small set of free calculators and guides for people who want to know what a job actually pays: per hour, per year, and after taxes in the state where they live.

Most pay calculators answer the easy part. Twenty-five dollars times 2,080 hours is $52,000, and any search engine will tell you that. The questions people really have come after it: how much of that reaches my bank account in Ohio, what does a 50-hour week do to a salary, why did my last paycheck look so different, which months bring a third check this year.
That is what we build for. Every calculator here lets you change the assumptions that matter, like hours you are actually paid for, the weeks you take off unpaid, your filing status, your county, instead of hiding them behind a default.
How we work
Numbers come from primary sources: the IRS for federal tax, the Social Security Administration for the wage base, each state's department of revenue for state income tax and the state agencies that run disability and paid leave programs. When a state changes its rates in the middle of the year, as several did in 2026, we update the tables and say so. The full method, the assumptions and a source for every state are on How we calculate.
Guides are written and checked by the Wage by Hour editorial team. Every worked example is recomputed before it is published, and we would rather say a figure could not be verified than print a guess.
What we are not
We are not a payroll provider, a tax preparer or a law firm, and nothing here is tax or legal advice. The calculators give careful estimates for planning: comparing job offers, budgeting, checking that a paycheck looks right. For a decision with real money at stake, check your pay stub, your state's official tables or a professional.
The calculators run in your browser and on our server without accounts, and we do not store what you type into them. Our privacy policy has the details.
